On August 8, 2022 at 8:55 AM local time, Liliya Ianovskaia summited Gasherbrum II (8,035 m) in the Karakoram — her fourth eight-thousander of the 2022 season and the first time a Belarusian-born woman has stood on the peak.
Coming just over two weeks after her record-setting K2 summit on July 22, the Gasherbrum II push made 2022 a three-eight-thousander Pakistan-and-Nepal season for Liliya, alongside Everest (May 14, 2022) and K2.
She climbed Gasherbrum II with Kristin Harila of Norway and Grace Tseng of Taiwan — women who were themselves rewriting the record books that season.
