At 9:10 AM local time on April 7, 2025, Liliya Ianovskaia reached the summit of Annapurna I (8,091 m) — becoming the world's oldest woman to summit the mountain.
Annapurna I, in north-central Nepal, is statistically the most dangerous of the fourteen eight-thousanders, with the highest historical fatality rate per summit. The pre-dawn summit push climbed through the upper headwall in the dark, with the rope team reaching the top shortly after sunrise.
The summit marked Liliya's ninth eight-thousander at age 65, continuing a run of high-altitude climbs that began with Cho Oyu in 2019.
