On August 8th, 2022 at 8.55am local time, Liliya successfully reached the summit of Gasherbrum II (8,035m), Liliya’s third eight-thousander in as many months.
Liliya was supported by Pema Chhiring Sherpa, and climbed as part of 8K Expeditions, together with Kristin Harila (Norway).
Liliya reported challenging conditions near the summit – steep going up without rope, stormy winds 3 hours before the summit, and whiteout conditions on the way down.
The team is spending the night at C2 before descending further down to C1.
Liliya advised that she will not be continuing on Gasherbrum I at this time, and will take a well-deserved break to recover from the summer season and prepare for fall.
